Smokeys weekly fishing report by Captains Klaus and Ruffolo 9/3/24

Overall Walleye fishing remained very good with working around structures being the best bet. Areas
along the east shore like Volks Reef, Macco’s Reef, and Chadiour’s Dock all producing good bites at
times. Both jigging presentations like Shiver Minnows and trolling #7 Flicker Minnows all produced
catches. Rock structures like Geano’s and Oconto Shoal also produced good catches both jigging and
trolling. In all cases use your electronics like side imaging to locate fish schools then focus on them with
your chosen tactic.
Perch fishing was a little spottier this last week especially to the south. Geano’s along the weed edges
produced some fish and areas like Dykesville and Vincent Reef also produced some catches. Several
anglers reported good catches this last week around Oconto also. Anglers had to be versatile with bait
selection changing constantly and locations. Don’t stay ion one area too long if the fish were not active.
Some days slip bobbers are best while other days three-way rigs with double drop spreader rigs are
better.
Musky action slowed a little with the slight heat wave but with a cool down and as we move closer to
fall the action should get better each week.

Yah, only at Smokeys!!!
If you go, please be safe, and take a kid fishing
