Smokeys weekly fishing report by Captains Claus and Ruffolo 6/15/26

This past week was spent dodging wind and some storms and some rain if you were trying to get out on
Green Bay to chase some fish. Also, many areas on the lower bay folks reported having to deal with
floating weeds and tons of floating Cottonwood on the water. The weather report for this coming week
also look like some scattered storms and some rain.
The lower Bay continues to be decent fishing for Walleye. When there is some wind to add a nice
“Walleye Chop” anglers are finding catches of good numbers of Walleye ranging in sizes from 12” to mid
20”. Trolling Flicker Minnows in white based colors has been the best bet. Colors like Slick Mouse, Prime
Time and Pink Lemonade have all been good. Of course, you will have to deal with your share of other
fish like White Perch, Sheephead and Catfish. College Reef, Frying Pan Shoal, and Deadhorse Bay have
all been productive at times.
Green Bays East shore Walleye has slowed significantly. A few fish have still been caught working the
12’-20’ of water areas from Bayshore north to Macco’s Reef. Many reports of schools of Alewife in
those areas have come in and that has slowed that action.
The Geanos Reef area has been slow also with very few reports of good success both Trolling or Jigging.
There has been some action or Walleye reported from both the Pensaukee Area and Oconto area up in
the emergent weeds. Most of those reports are coming from anglers pulling bottom bouncers with
small spinners or Smile blades in 8’-12’ of water.
The Perch bite remains slow overall. Your best bet continues to be using your electronics to seek out
the fish before setting up. Dead sticking minnows and crawlers have produced some catches around
outside areas of the reefs like Volks reef, Vincent Reef, Dykesville and Macco’s Reef.
