Smokey’s weekly Guide Report by Captain Ruffalo

Walleye fishing remains mixed, with some days better than other days, as alewife continue to inhabit the various structures of Green Bay. Both the east and west shore structures have seen occasional good bites, with fish taken on Vincent Point, Pt Comfort, Geanos Reef, and around Chaudoirs Dock. Trolling flicker minnows or shads are best. Casting Wapsie lures Ripper minnows are also taking fish. Perch are starting to show up in their summertime haunts, and this bite will continue to improve. If you get out fishing, be safe and take a kid fishing.

Smokeys Weekly Guide Report by Captain Ruffalo

Walleye fishing has been fair, with some days of little to no fish and some with limit catches. Alewife intrusion has loaded shallow areas of the lower bay with tons of bait, and until they disperse, the bait will be inconsistent. Perch fishing has been better, with good catches on the east shore areas near Chaudoirs and in the Oconto area. Smallmouth bass remain the best fishing, with lots of active fish in the Door County area. If you go, please be safe and take a kid fishing.

Smokeys weekly fishing report 6/15/22

The walleye trolling bite on the lower bay has been pretty slow due to the fact that there is a huge influx of alewives in the system right now. Your best bet is to rip jig because the fish are tight to the bottom. Best bet to catch the walleye and perch are on Vincent Point and Voekes reef on the east shore and out of Geano’s on the west shore. Muskies have moved out of the rivers and are down deep. They are also feeding heavily on the alewives. Shore fishing out of metro has been real good with mixed bags of crappie, cats, perch and some nice pike. For more info give us a call at 920 593 1749. Smokeys weekly fishing report 6-7-22

Musky season opened last weekend lots of fish were caught in the Fox river casting and trolling. As the water temps rise the muskies are leaving the river system and entering the lower bay. Walleyes are on fire on the lower bay. The bite switch from frying pan shoal to farther north on the east shore. Good reports of walleyes being caught by Geano’s. Fishermen are trolling cranks, harnesses and some casting for them. Perch are starting up on the lower bay good reports out of Duck Creek have been coming in as well as the east shore and west shore of the bay. By metro shore fishermen are catching a mix bag of bass, crappie, catfish, pike and walleyes. For more information give us a call at 920 593 1749. Yah, only at Smokeys!!!

Walleye fishing is going strong on Green Bay, with good catches coming in several locations. Oconto, Bayshore, Geanos, and University Bay are all putting out good walleyes, and a good perch bite is going in Oconto. White Bass are very active in the river, with the area below the dam and channel edges all giving up fish. The muskie opener was also good, with many fish taken in the Fox River. Bucktails and shad baits are taking fish. Smallmouth bass continue to be active in Door County waters, and a good bite can be found in the Oconto River and Mink River. Jerkbaits and hair jigs are best. If you get out, please be safe, and take a kid fishing.

Captain Jerry Ruffalo’s Guides Fishing Report 5/25/22

Fishing on Green Bay for walleyes remains excellent, with a good bite going on both east and west shores. Crawler harnesses and crankbaits are taking walleyes by Geanos Reef, Bayshore, Point Comfort, Vincent Point, Frying Pan Shoal and Deadhorse Bay. Smallmouth bass are active around the Door County area, with Ned rigs and tubes taking the most fish. Perch opened over the weekend, with good catches in Deadhorse bay and Geanos area. Crawlers and minnows are taking most perch. The muskie opener is this coming weekend, and some huge fish will be taken. If you get out on the water, be safe and take a kid fishing.

Smokeys weekly fishing report 5/25/22

Walleye fishing on the lower bay is really good. Fishermen are getting their daily limits either trolling, jigging or casting. Both the east and west shores are producing some nice fish. Perch are also being caught off of Vincent Point, Geano’s and the channel. This Saturday is the opener for the mighty musky. It should be a good one as the water temps are not that high. Captain Ruffalo’s weekly fishing report 5/19/22

Walleye fishing on Green Bay is excellent now, as water temps pushed into the 67-72 degree range, triggering a great bite. Good fish are going in University Bay, Vincent, Vokes, Frying Pan, Geanos, Suamico and Deadhorse. Trolling cranks and jigging with hair jigs or jig/crawler are taking fish. To the north, the smallmouth bass bite is in full swing in Door County. Tube jigs, Ned rigs, and jerk baits are working. Perch fishing reopens this weekend, and the accidental catches of perch make me believe that bite should be good, for those seeking perch. Whatever you do, please be safe on the water and take a kid fishing!

Smokeys weekly fishing report 5/17/22

The walleye spawn in the river is basically over. There are some fish in the river system but the bulk of the walleye are out in the lower bay. Fishermen are having luck on the east and west shore of the bay either trolling, jigging or casting. White Bass are really biting nice in the channel and in the Fox river. Crappie are still being caught at metro as well as bass, pike and some nice cats. For more info give us a call at 920 593 1749 0r stop by the shop. Yah, only at smokeys!!!
