The walleye bite is hot on both the east and west shore of the lower bay. Trolling crawler harnesses, crank baits and rip jigging are all doing well. Jumbo perch are also being caught in the same areas on smokey’s perch rigs using minnows and pieces of crawlers. Big cats are being caught on the fox using sucker minnows. Walleye fishing on Green Bay remains excellent, with great catches coming for anglers jigging, casting, and trolling. Hot areas have been Macos reef, Pensaukee Shoal, Oconto Shoal, North South reef, and the mud off Geanos reef. The best presentations have been casting ripper minnows, trolling crankbaits and crawler harnesses, and pulling the bottom bouncers with slow death rigs and crawlers. Perch fishing has been spotty, with the best catches coming from the Oconto area. Be aware of water temperature changes, as cold water moving into these areas tends to put the bite off for all species. Musky fishing is still slow but as we move into September the bite is going to be hot. If you go please be safe and take a kid fishing.

Walleye fishing on Green Bay was very good to excellent in the last week, with good catches of 15-19” eating sized walleyes going in several places. Geanos reef, Oconto shoal, North-south reef, Vincent point, Shoemaker point, Chaudoirs Dock, Pensaukee, and 2 mile reef are all putting out fish, with bigger fish more commonplace in the mud, Sherwood Point shoal, Hat Island, Green Island and Chambers Island. Casting ripper minnows, Hyper glydes, hair jigs, and trolling crawler harnesses were best. Perch fishing has been good, with decent catches coming in the weeds off Oconto County Park 2, Oconto Shoal, Vincent Point, and NS Reef. Crawler pieces, minnows and helgramites were the best baits. Walleye fishing on Green Bay picked up significantly over the last week, with water temps consistently in the 70’s and alewife finally dispersing from rock/reef areas. Good fishing has been found at College reef, Vincent Point, 2 mile reef, Geanos reef, Oconto Shoal, and in the weeds around Oconto. Casting Ripper minnows, Jig/crawler, or trolling crankbaits has been best. Perch fishing has been great in Oconto, with good catches found in the weeds, Oconto Shoal and around Geanos reef. Crawler pieces and minnows are best. Be sure to use Selective Harvest and let those 13” plus giant perch go. The 9-11” are the best eaters, as are the 15-19” walleyes. Walleye and perch fishing showed signs of improvement, as alewife are starting to leave rock structure. Walleyes were found active on College Reef, Kidney Island rocks, Deadhorse Bay, Geanos Reef, and near CP2 of Oconto. Trolled crankbaits, crawler harnesses, and jigged Ripper minnows are taking walleyes. Perch fishing is good around Oconto, Geanos reef, Point Comfort and Chaudoirs Dock. Walleye fishing on Green Bay was spotty at best, with tough conditions, constant alewife intrusion on many rock/reef areas shutting down the bite. Perch fishing was average, with some catches in Vincent Point, Chaudoirs Dock, Oconto and Pensaukee Shoal. Hopefully within the next week to 10 days things will turn around and great fishing will return. Remember, be safe on the water and take a kid fishing.

Walleye fishing on Green Bay is improving, with alewife dispersing to deep water, leaving behind hungry walleyes on many structures. County Park 2, Pensaukee, Geanos reef, Macos reef, Point Comfort, and 2 mile reef all saw improving walleye fishing. Trolling crankbaits, crawler harnesses have been good, but the best bite is coming on casting Wapsie lures Ripper minnows. Gold, purple, and shades or purple and goby have been best. Perch fishing has been outstanding, with great fishing found in and around Oconto, Geanos reef, Chaudoirs Dock and North-South reef. Live bait such as night crawler pieces, minnows, and helgramites are best. There’s no more fun fishing activity than getting kids out catching great eating perch! If you go, please be safe!

Walleye fishing remains mixed, with some days better than other days, as alewife continue to inhabit the various structures of Green Bay. Both the east and west shore structures have seen occasional good bites, with fish taken on Vincent Point, Pt Comfort, Geanos Reef, and around Chaudoirs Dock. Trolling flicker minnows or shads are best. Casting Wapsie lures Ripper minnows are also taking fish. Perch are starting to show up in their summertime haunts, and this bite will continue to improve. Walleye fishing has been fair, with some days of little to no fish and some with limit catches. Alewife intrusion has loaded shallow areas of the lower bay with tons of bait, and until they disperse, the bait will be inconsistent. Perch fishing has been better, with good catches on the east shore areas near Chaudoirs and in the Oconto area. Smallmouth bass remain the best fishing, with lots of active fish in the Door County area. If you go, please be safe and take a kid fishing.

The walleye trolling bite on the lower bay has been pretty slow due to the fact that there is a huge influx of alewives in the system right now. Your best bet is to rip jig because the fish are tight to the bottom. Best bet to catch the walleye and perch are on Vincent Point and Voekes reef on the east shore and out of Geano’s on the west shore. Muskies have moved out of the rivers and are down deep. They are also feeding heavily on the alewives. Shore fishing out of metro has been real good with mixed bags of crappie, cats, perch and some nice pike. For more info give us a call at 920 593 1749.
