As the temperatures are dipping the fishing is getting better. The perch bite is still going strong. Vincent Point has been on fire on the east shore and out of the Suamico River on the west shore is doing good. Minnows are working best but some fishermen are having luck with crawlers too. Some nice perch are also being caught in the Duck Creek River and by the 172 bridge on the Fox River. Walleyes are still being caught on both the east and west shores trolling cranks, some are using harnesses and rip jiggn. The Fox River has been a tough bite during the day as the flood gates are closed by the dam causing the current to be real slow. Night fishing has been more productive on the Fox using jig and minnows, blade baits, soft plastics and trolling cranks in the deeper channels. Reports of smallies being caught up by the dam casting floating rappalas. Some nice pike are also being caught by the metro launch casting smaller crankbaits and spoons. Muskies are going pretty good trolling cranks (RAZ SHADS) on frying pan shoal and in U-Bay. Some nice 50 inch plus fish have been being caught. Water temps were in the high 60tys last week we need to the temps to drop to get the fish more aggressive. The perch and walleyes are still being caught on the east and west. Musky are biting by Little Tail and Frying Pan Shoal. The Fox River is producing some walleyes but they are not biting like last season due to the warm water and lack of current due to the flood gates being closed. As less and less fishermen frequent the Bay, the bite gets better and better. We’ve started fishing more in the Fox River, as a large amount of baitfish continue to migrate to the better current and typical winter staging areas. Jigging with Bat Lures blade baits, jig/plastic and jig/crawler rigs have taken the most walleyes on my boat. As water temperatures continue their downward slide, this bite and the number of fish there will increase. Perch fishing has been good, as long as NE winds aren’t shutting it down. We had multiple trips with great perch catches, with most fish coming on crawler pieces or minnows. Musky fishing has been okay, as many are hoping cooler air temps will push fish to feed more frequently. As always, be safe and take a kid fishing.

Fishing on the lower bay has been hit and miss the last week. We had strong NE winds that sent the fish deep causing them not to eat. Perch and walleyes are still being caught on both the east and west shores. Perch fishermen are using custom rigs tipping them with minnows or crawlers. Walleyes are being caught trolling and rip jiggn. Muskies are still being caught on the west shore and frying pan shoal. Water temps have been in the high 60tys causing the fish to stay in the bay instead of the Fox River. As the bay water temps drop the fish will start to migrate into the Fox River that should start very soon. The walleye bite in the Fox River has slowed down because they have the flood gates closed by the dam so the current is very weak and water levels are down. Fall is here which means the fish are in a feeding frenzy. On the bay perch and walleyes are still being caught on both the east and west shores. Perch are biting on minnows and the walleyes are still being caught trolling cranks, harnesses and rip jiggn. Muskies are being caught trolling cranks and some casting on the west shore. As the bay cools down the gizzard shad are starting to move into the river system which the walleyes and muskies will follow. Some walleyes are being caught down by the dam and some small muskies on the 172 flats. With fall we experience some strong winds, please be careful before venturing out on the bay if it is windy. The perch and walleye fishing on the bay is still going strong. Both the east shore and west shore are producing some nice fish. Musky fishing is getting better and better everyday with the cooler temperatures we have been having. The muskies are starting to migrate from the west shore to frying pan shoal and eventually into U Bay and the river as bait fish start their fall spawning migration. Be careful if you are fishing by the Depere Dam last week they shut the flood gates which caused the river to drop in depth causing some headaches for local fishermen. Perch fishing continues to be very good on the bay. Jumbo limits are being caught on the east shore from Chaudoirs Dock to Vincent Point and on the west shore from Oconto to the Saumico River. Minnows and pieces of crawlers are the bait of choice using custom perch rigs from Smokeys. Walleyes are also still biting really good at the same locations trolling crank crawler harnesses and rip jiggn with the Waspie Ripper Minnow. Muskies are also doing well with nice catches of fish over 50 inches. Musky fishermen are throwing rubber, bucktails and trolling crankbaits on the west shore. Shore fishing is starting to pick up on the Fox River as the walleyes are starting to migrate towards the dam. They are also catching some nice perch, crappies and bluegills from shore. With cooler weather moving into the area, the walleye, musky, and perch bite continue to be good in many locations. We found good perch and walleye fishing on Macos Reef and North-South Reef, with Ripper Minnows and night crawler pieces taking both species. The musky bite was good, with nice fish taken at Pensaukee Shoal, Charles Pond, Geanos and the sandbar near the Brown/Oconto county line. Big blades like Spanky double 10’s and Musky Mahem 10’s, along with Super Shad and Bucher Depth Raiders are best for big musky. Trophy walleye continue to bite in the Upper Door County area, with crankbaits, ripper minnows, and crawler harnesses all taking big fish. If you get out, be safe, and take a kid fishing.

The perch bite remains on fire on the bay. Vincent Point to Chaudoirs Dock are giving up some nice jumbo perch. On the west shore from the Saumico River to Oconto perch limits are being caught. If you want to catch 2 at a time try a custom smokeys perch rig. Walleyes are doing well also at the locations above trolling cranks, harnesses and rip jiggn. The Jiggn Minnow by waspie is doing excellent check them out at Smokeys. Musky fishing keeps on getting better everyday as we move into fall. Casting blades, rubber and trolling cranks are the preferred methods. Bank fishing from Metro has been pretty good with catches crappie, bluegills, perch,pike and nice cats.
