Smokeys weekly fishing report by Captains Claus and Ruffolo 6/29/26

Overall, the weather this past week was very kind to anglers, but this coming week might not be as kind
with some good winds expected. Water temperatures on Green Bay have stabilized nicely and this
should really begin to get the Walleye and Perch fired up.
University Bay still continues to produce some decent catches of eater sized Walleye along with quite a
few short fish. The big trouble is still a bit of floating weeds, so checking your baits often is key. #7
Ficker Minnows continue to be the best baits for trolling. White based colors with purple or chartreuse
on them have been best due to the slightly dirty water. College Reef, Kidney Island area along with
Dead Horse Bay all have seen decent activity.
Green Bays East shore areas around Vicen Reef and Volks Reef have also been good with some wind for
catching a few eater sized Walleye. Both trolling and casting. #7 Flicker Minnows have been the best
trolling bait and anglers casting both hair jigs and shiver minnows are having some success on the reefs.
The Geanos Reef area continues to see a good bit of action for both trolling and jigging for Walleye.
Anglers are finding a few walleyes around the reef trolling crawler harnesses and Flicker Minnows and
casting jig/crawler and hair jigs.
The Green Bay “Mud Bite” is beginning to see signs of life. Anglers report catches of around 5-7 fish out
in the mud trolling either crawler harnesses or crank baits like #9 Flicker Minnows.
The Perch bite remains almost non-existent currently. Your best bet continues to be using your
electronics to seek out the fish before setting up. Hopefully this warm weather will push more Perch
into their summer patterns.
Remember to take a kid fishing
