Storm dodging was partially the story last week moving into the holiday weekend. Most days weather
was good overall to get out and chase both Walleye and Perch on Green Bay. Lost of reports are
coming in on the lower bay areas of plenty of the 10”-13” Walleyes from spring 2025 spawning. This is
a great sign for years to come out on The Bay.
University Bay has slowed up a bit due to the very dirty waters with all the rain runoffs. Some Walleyes
are still showing up around College Reef and kidney island and the 6’-8’ of water around Bay Beach.
Trolling #7 flicker minnows in brighter colors has been best like Firetiger and Slick Mouse.
Walleye anglers continue to find some action in the Geanos Reef area both trolling and jigging. Anglers
are finding a few walleyes around the reef trolling crawler harnesses and Flicker Minnows and casting
jig/crawler and hair jigs. Trolling Flicker minnows off the east side of the reef from 15’-20’ of water has
been producing some bigger fish when anglers are willing to be patient and only get 5-8 bites. Gold
colors and purple chrome colors have been good on sunny days.
East shore Walleye activity also continues to be decent around the reefs like Maccos, Volks, Vincent, and
2 Mile. Jigging Shiver Minnows and Hair jigs along with search baits have all produced some Walleye
activity. Trolling Flicker Shads or Minnows in perch patterns or purples over the tops of the reefs in the
mornings and evenings has also been good at times.
The Green Bay “Mud Bite” continues to improve. Anglers report seeing some bait fish schools out in
deeper water off Oconto, Pensaukee and Chaudoirs dock. Mud trolling either crawler harnesses or
crank baits like #9 Flicker Minnows have produced some Walleye.
The Perch bite has begun to ramp up more this past week with the heat in the weather. Some decent
catches were reported around the shipping channel, Geanos Reef, Vincent Reef, Dykesville, Chaudoirs
Dock and Oconto. Remember to use your sonar to locate fish and then work an area. Minnows and
crawler pieces on dead sticks and drop shot rigs were the best.
Remember to take a kid fishing
